Agricultural life at Vatika

Inextricably linked with the culture of the people

Land cultivation, animal husbandry and fishing was and is today the main activities of the residents of Vatika. The, to some extent, geographic isolation from the rest of mainland Peloponnisos and the water resources contribute to the intense agricultural activity that continues until today. For several centuries, the inhabitants’ activity was focused on the higher land and mountains. The better access to water sources and the steep terrain configuration helped the necessary cultivation.

Subsequently the people moved rural activity to the plain of Vatika and lowlands. The cultures were expanded with the help of boreholes. Some of the products produced is extra virgin olive oil, Vatika special onion, honey and more.
