Agios Ioannis Megachoras is a Byzantine church which has been whole maintained over the village Kato Kastania.
The location that this church was built is in the place of the former settlement of Kato Kastania called Megachora. Scattered remains of houses and other temples testify the growth of the settlement and the reverence of the people. Inside the church you will admire multidisciplinary frescoes of the 13th century perfectly preserved.
The access to the church is done by a path that crosses a private ranch. Just before reaching the village Kato Kastania turn into an one kilometer dirt road that goes upwards the hill. After walking about 200 meters you will find the church.
