Agios Ioannis Velanidia

Agios Ioannis Velanidia

Agios Ioannis of Velanidia is a small chapel just above the village of Velanidia built on the cliff.

Access to it is done by a small landscaped path from the village. Before reaching the church there is a piece of a medieval wall that probably protected the church and the residents from pirate attacks. The roof of the church is configured to collect the rainwater that falls from the cliff and collect it in a cistern to serve the water needs that the ascetics had.

Because of its position, you will admire the beauty of the village, the countryside and the sea which uniquely offers.
