Cape Maleas Lighthouse

Cape of Maleas is located at the southernmost edge of the mainland Greece.

The stone lighthouse was built about 1860, operated the 1883 and from then until today with a small break in WWII, without interruption to the present. In 2006 characterized as a listed monument and a restoration process began. It is one of the greatest lighthouses of the Greek lighthouse network and is well known to seamen of the whole world.

In order to visit the lighthouse we reach Velanidia and proceed south to the Agios Myrros to follow the course of the D10 hiking route that leads to it.
