Gazing at the Myrtoan Sea

The watch post was built in the Second World War, on the top of mountain Krithina southeastern from the village Velanidia.

Its purpose was to function as a point in observation for Myrtoo and Kytherian seas and as a radiocommunications node for ships and aircrafts. Important seems to was its role at the Battle of Crete and in the guidance tha the aircraft had.

The access to it is difficult and is only via hiking trais but visiting will give a unique view of Myrtoo Sea, the islands of Cyclades and even Crete , if the weather permits it.
