Natural and environmental wealth
Vatika is a remote peninsula in some way from the rest of mainland Greece of particular interest for the natural and environmental wealth. The diversity of the region, plains, mountains, canyons, lakes, capes, etc. contributes to it.
The flora of the area includes many rare species and especially many species of endemic plants, ie plants that do not exist anywhere else in the world. In parallel fauna of the area is characterized by uniqueness since there are rare species of amphibians, reptiles and the presence of the Caretta-Caretta that lays its eggs in the beaches Neratziona, Maggano and Pounta.
Stroggili lake near the Vigklafia and Pounta is an important protected wetland in which find shelter migratory birds and several other species of fauna and flora of Vatika.
