Agios Georgios
a village full of history
The rural center of Vatika
Agios georgios is a small village of the plain of Vatika. Its name owes to the church of Agios Georgios which was built over the ruins of an older church, Agios Onoufrios.
The village has about 6 hundred inhabitants and has a strong historical interest. In the area are situated the most Mycenaean tombs of the Vatika area and many of them are close to the elementary school building. The village is being inhabited from Byzantine age and many archeological findings proove this.
From Agios Georgios you can visit the amazing beach of Maggano.
